- Your master password cannot be recovered by anyone. Keep it safe.
- You are responsible for keeping your own backups.
- The app is provided "as is", without warranty.
1. Agreement
By installing or using KiteVault ("the app"), you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The app is provided by Kitelux ("we", "us").
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use KiteVault on Android devices you own or control, for lawful purposes. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except where the law allows it despite this restriction), redistribute or sell the app. Open-source components in the app remain under their own licences, listed in the app's About screen.
3. Your master password and your data
- Your vault is encrypted with a key derived from your master password. We never see or store that password.
- Because of this, we cannot reset or recover it. If you lose your master password (and any recovery key you saved), your data is permanently inaccessible.
- You are solely responsible for the master password, the recovery key, the security of your phone, and any files you export. Exported files are not encrypted.
- You own your data. We claim no rights over what you store in the app.
4. Backups
The optional Google Drive backup stores your encrypted vault in your own Google account. It is a convenience, not a guarantee. Keep your own additional copies of anything important. Your use of Google Drive is subject to Google's terms.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the app to break the law, to infringe others' rights, or to attack, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to any system, including the optional online services the app connects to. Only store credentials you are entitled to hold.
6. Third-party services
The optional breach check uses the Have I Been Pwned Pwned Passwords service, and backup uses Google Drive. These are operated by third parties, may change or become unavailable, and are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for them.
7. Security notice
We use vetted cryptographic libraries and follow security best practices, but no software can be guaranteed free of flaws. Devices that are rooted, infected with malware or otherwise compromised may expose your data regardless of the app's protections.
8. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kitelux is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, passwords, profits or access to accounts, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app (which may be zero). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
10. Updates and termination
We may update, change or discontinue the app. You may stop using it at any time by uninstalling it, which deletes the vault stored on your phone (so export or back up first). We may end your licence if you breach these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The latest version is always at this page, with its effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
